PAINTING THE ARCHIVE

Video can’t be displayed
Painting the Humanizing Deportation Archive is an initiative that merges art and activism by amplifying the stories of deported individuals through large-scale public murals installed at key locations along the U.S.-Mexico border. These murals transform personal narratives of displacement, resilience, and hope into powerful visual testaments, fostering empathy and dialogue around the realities of deportation.
These murals form a cross-border tapestry of human stories, connecting diverse communities and creating a space for reflection and advocacy. By engaging storytellers from the Humanizing Deportation project, deported individuals, and communities on and beyond the border, this work strives to transform the border from a site of division into one of collective memory and shared humanity.
